Abstract: | Summary An improved demonstration of polyglucose synthesized histochemically from glucose-1-phosphate by the phosphorylase activity in rat skeletal muscle was made by use of electron histochemical techniques.New polyglucose was found in the sarcoplasmic matrix among various organelles in muscle fibers embedded with epoxy resin. This polyglucose stained less densely with lead, forming amorphous aggregates or finer particulates with 100 to 150 Å in diameter, different from native glycogen which was separately observed in the same section. |
