| Abstract: | Neutrophils,a significant part of the tumor microenvironment,are the most abundant circulating leukocytes in humans.Research has now established that neutrophils play a major role in tumors,with an important contribution to tumorigenesis,progression and metastasis.The phenotypic and functional diversity of neutrophils in tumor microenvironment have been instrumental for understanding of the biology of neutrophil and its clinical significance.This review will discuss neutrophil recruitment,polarization,heterogeneity,and the function of pro-tumor/anti-tumor neutrophils in the tumor microenvironment,highlighting neutrophils or NETs-targeted putative therapeutic strategies. |
