Abstract: | Morphological features of gonads of diploid Bufo viridis and tetraploid B. danatensis from 15 localities of USSR (453 spec.) were investigated. Females with the rudimentary ovaries were found among polyploid toads from south Turkmenia. The toads from Tajikistan having the external features of males usually demonstrated a specific kind of lateral gynandromorphism: a single side testes and rudimentary ovaries (with the normal ovarioles). The observed facts are treated either as a result of hybridization of recent species or as a result of originality of genomes organization. |
