Abstract:Neurotransmitters relay signals within the brain and to peripheral tissues, allowing communication between nerve cells. New work from in this issue of Cell Metabolism reveals that, in C. elegans, serotonin functions during conditions of stress through the well-characterized insulin/IGF-1 signaling pathway, suggesting a mechanism for the stress response.
