| Abstract: | The monotypic family Amborellaceae has only one species, Amborella tricopoda Baill.. Morphological studies indicated that Amborella tricopoda Baill. possesses many primitive characters. Most of the recent phylogenetic analyses of multiple molecular data sets indicate that Amborellaceae is the basalmost taxon of the extant angiosperms. But the systematic position of Amborellaceae is under dispute. The origin and radiation of angiosperms (flowering plants) have long been hot issues fascinating botanists.This paper reviews the research history and recent advances related to this family. |
