Abstract: | Testicular and adrenal cortex endocrine functions were simultaneously tested in pubertal baboons (papio hamadryas) during one year. Concentrations of androgens (testosterone, 5 alpha-dihydrotestosterone, dehydroepiandrosterone), corticosteroids (cortisol, progesterone, 17-hydroxyprogesterone, 17-hydroxypregnenolone) and aldosterone were determined in blood of the experimental monkeys by radioimmunoassay. It was shown that with increasing androgen (testosterone and dihydrotestosterone) levels in blood of the pubertal monkeys there was a significant decrease of corticosteroid concentration which was most pronounced in the monkeys with maximum increase of testosterone level. Described hormonal changes did not influence aldosterone concentration. |
