Abstract: | The dyes acridine orange and methylene blue have been found to undergo a striking change in visible and ultraviolet absorption spectra in the presence of polyriboadenylic acid and polyribocytidylic acid. This reaction does not occur with the corresponding monomers. In the case of polyriboadenylic acid, the binding of acridine orange appears to inhibit the structural change of this polymer at acid pH's. |
