| Abstract: | Vpu is an HIV-encoded protein that enhances virus release. Previously, this activity was correlated with an intrinsic ion channel activity of Vpu. In this issue of Molecular Cell, Hsu at all. propose an alternative mechanism: they suggest that Vpu functions by inhibiting another ion channel, TASK-1. |
