Some paleopathological cases of the ancient Anatolian mandibles

Abstract:This paper deals with four cases of temporomandibular arthritis encountered in the mandibles of individuals who lived in Anatolia during protohistorical and historical times. Among these cases, are two mandibular condyles belonging to the Neolithic period and one mandibular condyle belonging to the Chalcolithic period showing an osteo-arthritic lesion. While in the temporomandibular joint of the individual belonging to Middle Bronze Age, arthritic double condyles is shown resulting in ankylosis.
