Abstract:Microsomal fractions isolated from coleoptiles of dark or far-red light grown corn show ATP-dependent Ca2+ accumulation. The microsomal transport from dark but not from far-red light grown tissue could be stimulated by calmodulin. Ca2+ accumulation into mitochondria from coleoptiles of far-red light grown corn in also inhibited as compared to the dark controls. Light irradiation of isolated microsomes and mitochondria had no effect on either Ca2+ uptake nor efflux.
