Abstract: | The ultrastructural localization of succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity in "dark" and "light" neurons of the intact rat's frontal brain cortex has been studied. The enzymes' activity was detected with using potassium ferricyanide as artificial acceptor of electrons. In the "light" cells SDH activity is localized in the mitochondria and plasma membranes. LDH activity is localized in the mitochondria, plasma membranes and hyaloplasm. SDH and LDH activity was not found in the "dark" cells. |
