Enzymatic characterization with the API ZYM system of entomophthorales potentially pathogenic to man

Rapid biochemical differentiation of the zoopathogenic species ofCondidiobolus from those ofBasidiobolus may be made on the basis of aesculin hydrolysis, and the presence or absence of arginine-arylamidase (trypsin) and -glucosidase, activities as determined by the API ZYM system. These biochemical measurements are especially useful as an aid in determination of atypical isolates.
