Abstract: | Acetylcholine esterase (AChE, EC 3.1.1.7) and choline acetyltransferase (CAT, EC 2.3.1.6) activities were studied in the early chick embryos. Gastrulation is accompanied by a sharp increase in the AChE activity which was most pronounced in anterior hypoblast. Three molecular of AChE (4.7, 6.8 and 10.9 S) were identified in the extract of chick embryos using a sucrose density gradient centrifugation. The CAT activity remained unchanged during gastrulation but increased twice at the end of gastrulation. |
