| Abstract: | Myxococcus xanthus is remarkable among the prokaryotes because it has a developmental cycle that produces fruiting bodies. Many extracellular signals (A–E) orchestrate fruiting body formation. This update highlights recent work that has contributed to our current understanding of the C-signal and its role in fruiting body formation and morphogenesis. |
