Abstract:Water potential,osmotic potential,solute concentration and osmotic adjustment are determined in the leaves of three wheat cultivars(Din- gxi No.24 and Honglong No.1.cultivars known as drought resis- tance;Longchen No.1,non-resistance,as the control).The drought resistant cultivars had higher water potential and lower osmotic po- tential than the control.The drought resistance was postivelyrelated to the capability of osmotic adjustment,the solutes were determined in Dingxi No.24(a drought resistant),It was found that soluble carbon- hydrates mainly accumulated in the earlt drougtht period,the free amino acids accumulated greatly.Howewever proline inceased more than any other amino acids.K~+ decreased with water stress and Na~+ kept unchanging.
