| Abstract: | Summary A bioassay is developed for testing growth factors present in fungal extracts and acting on a consortium of cellulolytic bacteria produced in a continuous anaerobic digester inoculated with rumen liquor and fed with carboxymethylcellulose. Fungal extracts stimulated overall biomass production of the cellulolytic bacterial consortium without changing specific cellulolytic activity. |
