Human pineal luteinizing hormone receptors
Abstract:The presence of luteinizing hormone receptors in human pineal glands from five females and three males, ranging in age from 61-89 yr, was examined by in situ hybridization and immunocytochemistry. The results demonstrated the presence of these receptors at the mRNA and protein levels in all the pineal glands examined. Pineal gland luteinizing hormone receptors could potentially be involved in the regulation of melatonin synthesis.
