| Abstract: | A simple model for steady-state plant growth is described. Thegrowth constant, measured during steady-state exponential growth,is related to the specific activities of the shoot and the root,enabling the effects of certain environmental variables (light,carbon dioxide and nitrogen) on the growth constant to be examined.The model is used to interpret data on the growth kinetics ofwheat (Macdowall, 1972a, b, c). |
