Abstract: | Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi are thought to have remained asexual for 400 million years, although recent studies have suggested that considerable genetic and phenotypic variation could potentially exist in populations. A brief discussion of these multigenomic organisms is presented. © 2003 The Linnean Society of London, Biological Journal of the Linnean Society , 2003, 79 , 59–60. |
