Radiation-induced specific locus mutations in human mammary epithelial cells

A specific locus mutagenesis assay using primary cultures of human mammary epithelial cells has been developed. A mutation frequency at the hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyl transferase (HGPRT) locus of approximately 2 X 10(-5) mutations per surviving cell per gray of ionizing radiation was estimated in these cells.
