Abstract: | In a greenhouse experiment involving an acid soil teff [Eragrostis tef (Zucc.) Trotter] plants failed to grow unless the soil was limed or inoculated with either of two vesicular-arbuscular-mycorrhizal (VAM) fungi,Glomus mosseae orGlomus macrocarpum. Plant growth increased by liming and to a lesser extent by VAM fungal inoculation. Liming also enhanced root colonization by VAM fungi. Shoot micronutrient content generally increased as a result of inoculation, and decreased by increased lime applications. |
