Abstract: | A novel method analogous to the bone-marrow micronucleus test developed by Schmid (1975) has been introduced to the study of male germ cell mutagenesis (Lähdetie and Parvinen, 1981). Induction of micronuclei (MN) by X-irradiation has been reported. In the present study, a chemical model mutagen, adriamycin (ADM), was used to characterize and evaluate the method further. The sensitivity of various stages of meiotic prophase to the induction of MN were analyzed by counting the number of MN in early spermatids of treated rats. |
