Abstract: | Thirty patients with advanced metastatic breast cancer were treated with 5-fluorouracil. There were two deaths attributable to drug toxicity. Ten additional patients died of advancing disease, and of this group only two showed significant remissions as a result of drug therapy. Of the 18 patients surviving, 17 obtained objective and subjective remission from their disease and 12 were in complete remission from four to fourteen months from institution of therapy. In four of these cases, radiation therapy was combined with chemotherapy. |
