Development of a Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE) method for molecular typing of clinical isolates of Arcanobacterium haemolyticum

  • Abstract:We developed a two-block PFGE method to study molecular variation among clinical isolates of Arcanobacterium haemolyticum, an often overlooked human pathogen. Three main macrorestriction profiles were defined among 15 isolates. PFGE was an objective method for characterizing A. haemolyticum and may be useful in molecular epidemiological studies of this organism.
