| Abstract: | Summary Freeze-etch replicas of basidiospores of Panaeolus campanulatus treated for 16 hours in glycerol showed that germination processes had been initiated. The plasmalemma bore evaginations, abstricting vesicles into the paramural space, and the nuclear envelope evaginated abstricting promitochondrial initials. The significance of these results is discussed in relation to previous work on chemically-fixed spores of various fungi. |
