| Abstract: | Summary The results of the main works concerning the eccentricity of stems have been here exposed, with an analysis of the various factors upon which it may depend. Results of researches performed on trees grown up both on flat and sloping woodlands have been reported, the eccentricity of stems being examined with regard to their circumference and age and to the slope of the soil. It has been possible to acknowledge for the eccentricity the indipendence from age, while a direct relation between eccentricity and soil-slope has resulted to be evident. The «nearness factor» has been found to be very important in causing the eccentricity of stems. |
