| Abstract: | Echinolaena ecuadoriana sp. nov. from the provinces of El Oro and Guayas in Ecuador is described and compared with E. standleyi . A key to the New World species of Echinolaena is provided, as well as illustration of the inflorescences and spikelets of all the 6 New World species ( E. ecuadoriana, E. gracilis, E. inflexa, E. minarum, E. oplismenoides , and E. standelyi ). |
