Energy source for lithium efflux in yeast |

| Abstract: | The efflux of Li+ in yeast was found to depend on the protonmotive force. The ATP content of the cell regulated the efflux that was also sensitive to the decrease in the cell pH. We propose an electrogenic H+/Li+ antiport as the mechanism for the efflux of Li+. |
