Abstract: | From a study of serial frontal sections of the brains of 30 dogs weighing from 1.6 to 36.0 kg and having a length of cranium (brain case) from 60 to 130 mm, we have established the anatomical relationship of the Sylvian fossa to the basal ganglia. A new method has been proposed for precise determination of the stereotactic coordinates of the subcortical nuclei of the forebrain in the living dog. The reference point serving as zero for the stereotactic planes is taken as the Sylvian fossa.Translated from Neirofiziologiya, Vol. 1, No. 3, pp. 331–335, November–December, 1969. |
