| Abstract: | A review is given of the use of thioglycosides as glycosyl donors in oligosaccharide synthesis. Both indirect use, by conversion of the thioglycoside into a glycosyl halide and direct use, by electrophilic activation of the thioglycoside, are discussed.Abbreviations DMTST
