| Abstract: | A simple and novel method, using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has been standardized for accurate sex determination in sheep and goats. The assay utilizes a pair of bovine Y-chromosome specific primers and the genomic DNA isolated from blood samples of adult male and female sheep and goats. The primers recognize and amplify the Y-chromosome specific sequences in male goats and sheep. The assay is accurate, reliable and rapid. |
