Abstract: | The occurrence of basophils in peripheral blood of 15 freshwater teleosts was examined using the metachromatic stain, toluidine blue, on blood smears fixed with lead subacetate. Metachromasia was more identifiable through better preservation of the granules. The occurrence of basophils in teleost blood was confirmed as very rare and was not caused by failure to preserve the basophil granules. |
