Abstract: | Electron microscopy and autoradiography were used to disclose remarkable differences in the RNA synthesis rate by morphologically related human adipocytes. These differences might be accounted for by the fact that the RNA synthesis rate in individual adipocytes does not remain at the same level but undergoes periodic changes. The phasic changes are unlikely to coincide in different adipocytes. The evidence obtained is discussed in relation to the problems of the periodicity of cell functional activity. |
