| Abstract: | The inhibition of human leukocyte 5-lipoxygenase by 15-hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid and its chemical or enzymatic rearrangement products was investigated. 15-Hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid was the most potent inhibitor tested. The inhibition was found to be time dependent and is not due to chemical or enzymatic decomposition products nor metabolism of 15-hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid to 5,15-dihydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid. |
