Abstract: | The presence of C37-norcarotenoids (peridinin and probably pyrrhoxanthin, together 87% of total carotenoids) and the carotenoid pattern in general, including dinoxanthin, diatoxanthin and β,β-carotene, but no fucoxanthin, strongly suggest that H. akashiwo is a dinoflagellate and not a chrysophyte. |
