The Composition of the Broad Bean Seed (Vicia faba)

Abstract:The composition of the seed of the Broad Bean (Vicia faba) hasbeen investigated and the results of alternative analyticalmethods compared. The seeds used in the present work were higherin nitrogen and phosphorus and lower in structural carbohydrate,magnesium and calcium than the seeds used in previous Germananalytical work. Such differences are attributed to differenceof variety and of conditions of maturation of the seed.
