Abstract: | o-Pentafluorobenzyloxime (OPFB)-heptafluorobutyrylester (HFB)-derivatives were prepared from extracts of haemolymph from last instar larvae of Leptinotarsa decemlineata and subjected to negative ion chemical ionization capillary gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (NCI/GC-MS). Ten C21 and C19 steroids could be positively identified: testosterone, dehydroepiandrosterone, 5α-dihydrotestosterone, 11-ketotestosterone, 11β-hydroxytestosterone, androstenedione, progesterone, 17α-hydroxyprogesterone, pregnenolone and 17α,20β-dihydroprogesterone. No estrogens could be found in these larvae. Radioimmunoassay of chromatographed extracts of haemolymph taken from the larval and pupal stages showed fluctuations in testosterone (and 5α-dihydrotestosterone) titer. |
