NMR and optical activity observations on the helix-coil transition in poly(gamma-benzyl L-glutamate) solutions

The helix–coil transition of poly(γ-benzyl L -glutamate) was studied by comparing proton magnetic relaxation behavior with optical activity studies. The transition temperature as determined by magnetic relaxation was lower than that obtained by optical activity. The concentration dependence of the transition was also studied. The relationship of these experiments with previous NMR studies and also with calorimetric investigation of the transition is developed.
