THE EXPRESSION OF CELLULAR ONCOGENES IN EMBRYONAL CARCINOMA CELLS

Using methods of quick blot and dotblot hybridizations,the expression of somecellular oncogenes was studied in cells of twocloned embryonal carcinoma cell lines,B 7-2 andF9-3.With the exception of erb B oncogene,other cellular oncogenes,such as ras~(Ha),ras~(Ki),ras~N,abl,sis,myb and fes were all expressed in these EC cells. The meaning of multi-expression of manycellular oncogenes,a phenomenon which wasalso found in many human malignancies,isstill not clear.The most interesting findingfrom the present work is the fact that theexpression of c-sis gene in B 7-2 EC cellswas decreased in their differentiated deriva-tives after being treated with a chemical in-ducer HMBA.The need for further studies ofthe dynamic change of c-sis cellular onco-gene expression during the course of HMBAinduction in these cells and their parallelchange of c-sis gene products is indicated.
