Chronic occlusions in patients with coronary heart disease: results of recanalization

Abstract:The paper analyzes the results of endovascular treatment in 298 patients with chronic occlusions or subtotal stenoses of coronary arteries. The authors show that balloon coronary angioplasty for chronic coronary occlusions is an effective and relatively safe techniques of myocardial revascularization. Successful endovascularization has been achieved in 68.1% of patients with chronic coronary occlusions and in 97.5% of those with subtotal coronary stenoses. The results show a high incidence of restenosis and asymptomatic reocclusion.
