Abstract: | In 1947, the then-Chinese government produced The Location Map of the South China Sea Islands (Nanhai zhudao weizhi tu, in Chinese). A discontinuous dotted line was on this map. This contribution looks at both the history of the creation of the dotted line and the opinions that have been expressed concerning the juridical status of the dotted line. Special attention is given to the historic title assertion. |
