Migratory Birds in Malawi

Some literature review and brief field observations on migratory birds were carried out from November 1987 to October 1992. Migratory birds and their natural habitats in Malawi are under threat. These threats include deforestation, uncontrolled bush fire, poorly planned development, poor habitat management, lack of knowledge and understanding of the importance of migratory birds and the natural habitats by the public.

This paper discusses the threats and their possible solutions, which would improve management of the remaining migratory bird habitats and public awareness of the importance of migratory birds and their habitats.
