Abstract: | The effect, on the agonistic behaviour of male mice, of urine from females which were either in oestrus or dioestrus, intact or ovariectomized, was examined. It was shown that the inhibitory effect on aggression previously demonstrated was independent of the state of oestrus and was unaffected by ovariectomy. In addition the presence of a factor in female urine which potentiates sexual behaviour in males was revealed. This effect was shown to be present at oestrus and not at dioestrus and to be abolished by ovariectomy. |
