Abstract:The variability of some seed proteins ofPhaseolus vulgaris was followed in individual seeds of 26cultivars of this species. Polymorphism was established with two proteins showing completely different immunochemical specificities which have previously been classified as the protein I and the protein II of the specificity Veltruská Saxa and Krupnaya sakhamaya respectively. Various combinations of these proteins occur in several cultivars. It was further found that the protein II of the specificity Veltruská Saxa had phytohaemagglutinating activity.
