| Abstract: | Adenosine deaminase was isolated from the pig thyroid gland and purified over 900-fold using DEAE Sephadex A-50 column chromatography, Sephadex G-100 gel filtration and DEAE Sephadex A-50 rechromatography. The enzyme was specific towards adenosine. The Michaelis constant based on the Lineweaver-Burk plot was 5 × 10?5M. The optimum pH was about 7.0, and molecular weight 44 700. |
