Contributions to the study of fossil snipe flies (Diptera: Rhagionidae): The genus Protorhagio

Abstract:Three new species of the snipe fly genus Protorhagio, viz. P. karataviensis sp. nov., P. ponomarenkoi sp. nov., and P. ruptus sp. nov., are described from the Middle-Upper Jurassic Karabastau Formation in Kazakhstan. The type species of the genus, P. capitatus, is redescribed. A key is provided to all known species of Protorhagio.
