| Abstract: | The only previous report about the porcelaneous Foraminifera occurring in strataequivalent to those studied in this paper was by Wang Ke-liang (1982), who described 1genus, Hemigordius. The porcelaneous Foraminifera are rich in the limestones of theTaiyuan Formation. They are important components of the communities breeding in theecologically restricted gulf environment, and play an important role both in stratigraphiccorrelation and in palaeoenvironmental analysis. This paper also discusses features of theenvironmental background which stimulated the development of the porcelaneousForaminifera. Eight species belonging to Hemigordus. Calcivertella, Calcitornella andMeandrospira are described. |
