A TAXONOMIC REVISION OF PARADXORNIS WEBBIANUS(G. R. GRAY)~*

Based on the difference of the color of the outer webs of the primaries, the author is in. accord of the opinion that Paradoxarnis webbianus is to be divided into two separate species:1. Paradoxornis webbianus(G. R. Gray)Rufous-headed CrowtitCharacteriZed by the red rufous color of the outer webs of the remiges.Consisting of P. w. mantschuricus, P. w. fulvicauda, P. w. suffusa, P. w. webbianus,. P. W. bulomachus, P. w. alphonsianus, P. w. ganluoensis, P. w. stresemanni, and P. w. yunnanensis.2. Paradoxornis brunneus (Anderson)Brown-winge crowtitCharacterized by the brown color of the outer webs of the remiges.Consisting of P. b. brunneus, P. b. ricketti, and P. b. styani.The elevation of the taxonomic status of Paradoxornis webbianus alphonsianus, and P. w. ricketti from subspecies to species is refuted. P.w. elisabethae should be rejected as a taxonomic taxon.
