An insecticidal diacetylene from artemisia monosperma

The essential oil of Artemisia monosperma obtained by steam distillation of the aerial parts of the plant was shown to have insecticidal activity against house fly, cotton leaf worm and the rice weevil. The chemical structure of the active ingredient from the steam distillate was shown to be 3-methyl, 3-phenyl-1,4-pentadiyne.
