National Cancer Center radiotherapy computer system

The present paper describes the philosophy behind, the objectives for, the algorithms, programs and hard ware configuration presently utilised in, a dedicated real-time system for processing vital information concerning radiation therapy. It now covers: (a) simulation of 2-dimensional 6-MV external beam therapy for isocentric techniques, including wedge and screening filters; (b) intracavity radium therapy; (c) combination of (a) and (b); (d) an important part of the medical data needed for treatment evaluation.
